blue ore

£225.00

Original painting

Oil on canvas

40 × 30 cm

2026

Framed in white painted wood

Inspired by many photographs I have of the space between two rock faces I wanted this piece to feel more dream-like and less literal. Pops of green and yellow recall the colours of the seaweed that covers the rocks, whilst soft dusty pinks and blues are subtle echoes of washed smooth rocks, shells and even the sunset sky. I called it ‘blue ore’ because the blue felt so unnatural and reminded me of precious minerals dug out from the ground and of course Cornwall has such a rich mining history, it felt appropriate.
